Giving Hope for the Holidays

The Home for Little Wanderers highlights top five ways to give this holiday season

BOSTON The Home for Little Wanderers (The Home) kicks off its holiday gift drive, Big Wishes for Little Wanderers, on Wednesday, November 28 and hopes to capture the same spirit of generosity as in previous years. There are many ways to give to The Home, one of New England’s largest private non-profit child and family service agencies that support children and families at risk.

Here are The Home’s top five ways to give:

  1. Bring a gift. Deliver new, unwrapped gifts, and gift cards to The Toy Room, Knight Children’s Center, 161 South Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, (across from the V.A. Hospital). "The Big Wishes" gift drive runs from Wednesday, November 28 through Friday, December 21. Please remember our teens this season.
  2. Send a gift. Even if you don’t have time to deliver a gift, you can still make a child’s wish come true. Purchase a gift online at and have it sent to the Toy Room for free.
  3. Visit The Home’s "Big Stars for Little Wanderers" Online Holiday Auction from November 28 through December 16. Senator Edward Kennedy, Ellen Pompeo, Jay Leno and Dennis Eckersley are just some of the celebrities who have donated autographed items this year to help our children. Click here for more information.
  4. Donate online, over the phone, 888-HOME-321 or via mail at 271 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
  5. Volunteer. Whether you are interested in sorting toys or mentoring a child, there are many ways to volunteer your time and talents at The Home. Call 617-927-0648 for more details.

"More than half of our much-needed annual funds are raised during the holiday season," said President and CEO, Joan Wallace-Benjamin, Ph.D. "We want to spread the word early this year to ensure that all our children’s needs are met."

Gifts can also be dropped off at participating Coldwell Banker locations across the state or at all Bernie & Phyl’s stores. For a list of donation ideas, drop-off sites for gifts, one-of-a-kind auction items or a calendar online order form, click here.
