Help Lift a Burden

The Home for Little Wanderers Seeks Backpack Donations for At-risk Youth

BOSTON — School is out for summer, but The Home for Little Wanderers is already planning ahead for the upcoming academic year! The nation’s oldest child and family service agency launches its annual Backpack and Duffle Bag Drive this month.

“Youth enter into The Home’s care throughout the year. Backpacks and duffle bags are always much-needed items because, like many other children, the youth we work with attend school and some go home on weekends,” said Bob Sherburne, Corporate Relations Officer at The Home for Little Wanderers. “As people are back-to-school shopping, we hope they will remember that many of the youth at The Home have never had a bag of their own. Receiving a new backpack or duffle bag prepares them for a successful school year and boosts their self-esteem and confidence.”

The Home for Little Wanderers’ Backpack and Duffle Bag Drive runs July 30 through September 30. Donations of new backpack and duffle bags for youth aged 5-21 can be dropped off at The Home for Little Wanderers, 271 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA. For more information, visit www.thehome.org or call Bob Sherburne at 617-267-3700.
