Help The Home and WCVB-TV Stuff-a-Truck

Campaign Drives to Make the Holidays Brighter for At-risk Youth

Join The Home for Little Wanderers and WCVB-TV to make the holidays brighter for at-risk youth. On Thursday, December 1, 2011, Channel 5’s Stuff-a-Truck event on the Boston Common (at the corner of Park Street) and Legacy Place in Dedham will challenge the community to fill two Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture trucks with new, unwrapped toys for children in The Home’s care as part of the non-profit’s annual Big Wishes Gift Drive. Donations will be accepted at both locations from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“Thanks to the generous support of WCVB and everyone in the community, The Home for Little Wanderers is able to fulfill the holiday wishes of thousands of our state’s most vulnerable children every year,” said Lisa Rowan-Gillis, Vice President of Development and Public Relations at The Home for Little Wanderers. “We are excited to be partnering with Channel 5 again this holiday season, as their support helps raise awareness about the needs that many local non-profits, like The Home, are trying to meet.”

Today, behind The Home for Little Wanderers' quaint name is an organization providing an array of critical services for children and youth from birth to 21. Over the past few years, many of The Home's 600 employees have seen an increasing need for holiday assistance from clients who are served by the agency's residential and community-based programs across Eastern Massachusetts. Many include requests for essential items like personal hygiene products, coats, socks, linens, and gift cards from stores like Target, Stop & Shop and CVS. As an organization that touches more than 7,000 lives each year, The Home relies on generous assistance from donors and sponsors.
