Eligibility and Admissions | Student Spotlight: Taylor


To be eligible for the ASCL program, young adults must exhibit a strong desire to pursue higher education and a willingness to learn new skills, seek support, and meet academic and social-emotional challenges of college life. They must also:

      • Be over the age of 18 
      • Have obtained a high school diploma or GED by time of enrollment
      • Have no dependents
      • Be accepted to the university by Bridgewater State Admissions Receive services through the Department of Children & Families (DCF) or the Department of Mental Health (DMH)

While ASCL accepts applications on a rolling basis, priority is given to applications received prior to April 1st for summer admission. ASCL maintains a waiting list of eligible applicants in the event that a spot in the program becomes available in January (spring semester) each year.

Prospective students must submit:

      • A completed BSU application (must be accepted by the university to proceed) 
      • A completed ASCL application 
      • A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with BSU designated as a college to receive the information 
      • A copy of your academic transcripts, high school diploma/GED, and SAT scores or IEP 
      • A copy of DCF/DMH case records 
      • DCF involved applicants: A copy of tuition and fee waiver eligibility letter (case workers should be able to assist in obtaining a copy of this letter)
