Out and About
Community Therapeutic Recreation Program

The Home for Little Wanderers’ Out and About program in Dorchester is a unique afterschool program serving youth with mental and behavioral health challenges. The program’s strength-based approach enhances social development and confidence in youth to engage in group/recreational activities out in the community.

Our skilled staff works collaboratively with youth and families to:

      • Strengthen social skills
      • Foster creativity
      • Develop independence
      • Support healing from trauma 
      • Mitigate impact from mental illness

Out and About has the capacity to serve 25 youth ages 12 to 18. The program provides the following:

      • Community/Recreation focused afterschool care (2-6pm, Mon-Fri)
      • Fun/Interactive curriculum
      • Transportation
      • Opportunities to engage within the Boston Community
      • Snacks and Beverages
