Corporate Donor Highlights
Corporate Donor Profile: Katsiroubas Bros. According to their mission statement, Katsiroubas Bros. “…is a company that establishes partnerships with their customers by supplying the highest quality produce, dairy, cheese and specialty products available…” To The Home for Little Wanderers they are far more than that.
Since 2004, the Katsiroubas family—parents Nick and Debbie, daughter Torry and son Ted—have been helping The Home and the children we serve in a number of different ways. Every Tuesday, Torry delivers fresh fruit to Boston’s Hope, a program designed to provide stability for children in foster care. Erica Nazzaro, Boston’s Hope program coordinator, described the weekly deliveries as “a dream come true.”
In addition to the food deliveries, the family runs a toy drive, sends our holiday cards to their clients, and regularly fundraises on The Home’s behalf to support the summer program activities for the children in our residential programs. Torry Katsiroubas also gave her time to be a mentor for a child at The Home for two years.
A family owned business located in Roxbury, Katsiroubas Bros. has been part of the food service industry throughout the Northeast for nearly 100 years. Spanning four generations, the company has expanded from its roots as a local produce delivery service to a leading produce wholesaler in New England.
Katsiroubas Bros. is one of many local companies that support the work and programs of The Home. We are grateful for their generosity as they allow us to provide the additional services and items that the children deserve and which make their lives richer.

Planning for the Future by Richard Ely, Strategic Fundraising Consultants
If you’re a long-time supporter, you may have thought about remembering The Home in your will. Over the years, your support—joined with that of many other people, businesses and foundations—has enabled The Home to care for children and improve their lives. Once you’ve decided that you’d like your support to continue, there are two questions to ask yourself:
One, how much of an impact would you like your gift to have on the lives of children? Two, what do you want to leave for The Home in relation to what you need or want to leave for your own family and other heirs? Once you’ve answered these questions, the decisions about how to move forward are somewhat technical and relate to how you’ll make your gift. Here are a few ideas:
A definite amount of money or a particular asset. If you want to leave a gift that has a specific result for the lives of children or you have in mind a level or scale of influence that your gift would have, leaving something definite is the way to go.
All or a portion of the balance of your estate. This would be a good method if you’re not sure of the precise amount or property you’d like to leave, but do want to include a benefit for The Home’s children.
If you want your gift to be earmarked for a particular program or service, please talk with us first to assure that we can carry out your wishes.
No matter which method you choose, you can be assured that you will make a significant difference in the lives of children. For more information, please contact Erik Kiernan, Director of Campaign and Major Gifts, at 617-585-7516 or ekiernan@thehome.org or visit our Planned Giving section.

Down by the Sea
In August, Jim and Barbara Schaye invited all the children and staff from the Knight Children’s Center, The Home’s residential and special education program in Jamaica Plain, to their beach in Marblehead for a day of fun in the sun. The kids had a blast—they swam in the ocean, climbed the rocks and searched for crabs. The Schayes generously provided beach towels, lunch, beach umbrellas and sand buckets for each child. Jim Schaye is a member of The Home’s Board of Directors and Barbara Schaye is on the Board of Ambassadors.
