Your Gift Goes a Long Way

Speaking Up for Homeless Youth

Imagine being 17 years old and shuffled among 13 different foster homes and two group homes in less than three years. Add to that some time living alone on the street and you have the story of one youth in our Young Adult Resource Network (YARN) program, who found the courage to speak up at a recent State House hearing on the Unaccompanied Youth Homelessness bill.

Did You Know...?

Many kids in The Home’s programs work hard at giving back to their community. Among projects undertaken this year were cleaning and sorting toys for homeless/low-income children; cleaning up Ringer Park in Allston; distributing food and supplies in the Wellness Tent at AIDSWalk Boston and giving encouragement to AVON walkers; and raising $100 for the Trayvon Martin Foundation through a bake sale. One youth volunteered in a Buddy role at the Challenger League and two others attended the Bikes Not Bombs’ Earn a Bike program.
