Peer Mentors are an innovative support that connects youth with slightly older young adults who have grown up in the Boston Community and can relate to youth’s struggles. They are a positive role model who provide guidance to youth who need another pillar of support. Mentors help youth develop skills to build better relationships with parents, siblings, friends, and others.
Peer mentor’s work with youth to set goals and connect them with resources within their communities. They help by doing the following:
“Having a peer mentor has been very beneficial. When I need someone to talk to, I know my mentor is only a call away ready to help me through whatever. Having her to trust is such a relief.” – Shay, 19
