The O’Connell House provides a safe, nurturing home for women who have survived human trafficking. As part of The Home for Little Wanderers’ continuum of care, the program offers trauma-informed residential services that help women heal from exploitation, regain independence and build a brighter future for themselves and their children.
Many women served by The O’Connell House have experienced childhood abuse, neglect or involvement with the child welfare system. Through relationship-centered care, our team of professionals helps survivors move beyond their trauma, providing the stability and individualized services needed to begin a new chapter.
At the heart of The O’Connell House is its innovative Sister Care model, which combines a variety of personalized supports to address the physical, emotional and practical needs of each woman, while allowing mothers and their children to live together at the program.
The O’Connell House is one of the few residential programs in the United States that allows women to remain with their children while receiving care. Many residents are pregnant or raising young children, and the program recognizes that healing is most effective when families can stay together.
Supporting mothers and children in a safe, stable environment helps strengthen family bonds, promotes healthy child development and interrupts cycles of trauma that can span generations.
The O’Connell House Freedom Gala is an annual event dedicated to celebrating and supporting survivors of human trafficking.
