Recently, The COVE School dining hall transformed into a festival of flavors for an unforgettable, student-led food truck event!
Since the beginning of the school year, students have worked in teams to design and build four unique food truck businesses, creating every element—including menus, logos, uniforms and the trucks themselves—from scratch. This project has touched every corner of their classrooms—from brainstorming concepts to testing recipes, creating logos and uniforms, planning budgets, and even building the trucks in woodshop.

This effort was made possible in large part by Citizens, a longtime friend of The Home that awarded a grant towards the vocational programs at The COVE School. Their generosity was put to good use—not only did Citizens provide the raw materials, their support allowed students to build life skills and entrepreneurial know-how through applied learning, gaining real-world experience that supports job and career readiness.
The pride of our students was unmistakable as they shared their concepts with fellow classmates, parents and staff and dished out tasty ramen, bubble tea, spanakopita, loukoumades, walking tacos, cupcakes frosted to order, and more!

Our entrepreneurs will be reminded again of their hard work, creativity and ingenuity at the end of the year, when their food trucks are rolled out again for The COVE School’s graduation celebration!
