1. What can I donate?

We accept most cars, trucks, trailers, boats and RVs. If you have any questions about what you can donate, please call the car donation program toll-free at (855) 550-4483.

2. Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes; vehicle donations to The Home and CARS are tax-deductible. Individual tax situations vary so please check with a tax professional to determine how you may benefit. When the car donation processor comes to pick up your car, they will provide you with a tax deductible donation receipt.

3. What do I need to donate my vehicle?

The car program would like the title to the vehicle, but if you do not have it please call anyway. It is possible that other arrangements can be made. Please call the processing service center toll-free at (855) 550-4483 if you have any questions about the requirements.

4. My car hasn’t run in years. Can I still donate it?

The car program is able to accept most vehicles, running or not. The only way to know for sure if your vehicle can be accepted is to contact the car donation program at (855) 550-4483 or submit the online car donation form. However, the condition of your vehicle will affect the fair market value of your donation. If the processing service center determines that your donation can not be sold for enough to cover the expenses involved with selling donated vehicles, they will call you within 48 hours to decline the donation.

5. How is the value of my car determined?

The IRS allows you, the taxpayer, to claim a tax deduction of (a) the value of your vehicle up to $500 or (b) if we sell the vehicle for more than $500 we will mail you a postcard with that value for your tax purposes. For additional information, the IRS provides a Donor’s Guide to Car Donations which sets forth the manner in which the IRS requires you to determine the value of your donated property. Here is a link to IRS Publication 4303 – A Donor’s Guide to Car Donations.

6. How will the car be picked up?

The processing service center will arrange to have your vehicle towed away from any location convenient to you (home, work, auto shop) at a scheduled time.

7. When can I schedule my pick up?

When you are contacted by the towing/vendor company, you will most likely be given a time period to choose from for your pick-up window. These windows are based on your needs as a donor and what fits the realities of the traffic and volume in the geographic area of the vehicle.
